Palante con Sarah (Forward With Sarah)

Born in Marbella on the 6th of March 2000.
Sarah is a very sporty person who throughout her childhood and adolescence has played football, tennis, basketball,
she has competed in swimming meets and in Judo tournaments. She has also practiced nordic-skiing, hikes and was
actually doing CrossFit and surf when she became ill.
She is also an excellent student who has had very high marks during her years in primary and secondary school. In
Bachiller her average mark was 9.3 out of 10 and in the university entrance exams she got a mark of 12.340 out of
14.
Her academic plans are to go to university to study Law and in fact, she has already signed up and is currently doing
her first year. Her initial idea was to also join a sport activity and represent the University in Malaga in
competitions, but this has been postponed.
Sarah is a very responsible person and precociously mature, with profound sentiments which makes her loved by her
friends and people who get to know her. She is always available for others. Due to her passion for sports, she has
always kept healthy habits. Her favourite drink is red wine with Lemon Fanta. She loves to meet with friends, talk
and dance.
On the evening of the 23rd of July, 2018 she began to feel ill. We found out a week later that she had picked up
bacterium meningococcus Y. This lethal bacterium caused her a sepsis and multi-organic shock. We do not know
how Sarah was infected, but we do know that it is transmitted through the respiratory system (sneeze, cough, etc…).
It also has an incubation period of 2 to 15 days.
She was on the critical vital list for 5 days and under induced coma for 10 days, until she pulled out the respiratory
tubes that kept her sedated. During the first 72 hours in the Intensive Care Unit she was given medication that saved
her life, but because of the bacterium´s attack and the effects of the medication, great damage was caused to her
vascular system and her extremities were affected due to the lack of blood circulation. A month later the doctors
had to amputate her hands and feet due to a necrosis. In the entire process, her kidneys were seriously damaged
and so Sarah has undergone a kidney transplant, her father being the live donor. They are both doing very well.
Our intention is to ask for help to raise funds for prosthetics that will allow Sarah to live a normal life, taking into
account that hand prosthetics last from 6 to 8 years and feet prosthetics last from 3 to 4 years.
Sarah wants to live a normal life. She dreams of living independently, going to university and participating in sport
competitions. She would like to work and have a family.
Sarah´s life is on a ‘’Standby’’ until we help her to get her back on to her feet……

Sarah Almagro Vallejo

Was born on the 6th of March, 2000.

Sarah, is a natural sports person who has been practising differents sports since she was a child.  She has played football, basketball and tennis.  She has competed in swimming meets, practised judo, nordic-skiing, does hikes and is currently hooked up on cross fit and surfing.

She is an outstanding student who has had excellent marks in Elementary and Secondary School.  She made an average of 9.30 out of 10 in Bachiller and 12.035 out of 14.000 in the state university access exams.

Her future academic plans are to go to University and study Law and then prepare herself for public tax inspection examinations.  She has already enrolled in Law School and her intentions are to do four subjects in this school year 2018-2019.  She is still thinking about studying Economy instead of Law next year.   Whatever she ends up studying, it will be for a career. One of her ideas was to sign up in some sport and represent the University in competitions.

Sarah is a very responsible person for her age, with a maturity and profound sentiments which makes her loved by her friends and persons that get to know her.  She is always available to help others.  Because of her love for sports, she does not smoke, nor takes drugs.  Her favourite drink is red wine with lemon Fanta.  She loves meeting up, taking walks and dancing with her friends.

On the 23rd of July, 2018, Sarah picked up a meningococcus Y, no one knows where or how.  The meningococcus is transmitted from person to person by the respiratory system and throat.  The contagion can be through a kiss, a sneeze, a cough, sharing glasses, cutlery etc… with the person who has the infection.  The infected person can be a healthy carrier.

Follow me on:

This infection caused her a sepsis and a multi-organic collapse.  She went into shock.  She was on a vital critical list for 5 days and in coma for 10 days, until she pulled out the sedation tubes. During the first 72 hours, she was given some medications which saved her life, but in the process serious damage to her vascular system was produced.  A month later the doctors had to operate in order to eliminate parts of her body that had necrosis and in the process she lost both her hands and feet.

She also has serious damages to her kidneys, but we hope that in time they will recuperate their functions.  She is currently going to dialysis.

Ours intentions is to ask for help to raise funds for Sarah to cover the costs of prosthesis that will permit her to live her life with a normality, taking into account that the prosthesis only last between 3-6 years.

Sarah wishes to go back to living a normal life as soon as possible.  She dreams about going to University, living in a student residence and participating in sports competitions.

Sarah´s life is on a standby until we help her to get back on to her feet
